Life Skills Training
U Care offers a variety of advocacy services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our programs are designed to assist survivors regain power and control over their quality of life in a safe and supportive environment.
Regular support groups for counseling and empowerment are available. Discussions are focused on providing you with a variety of tools to help clearly assess your situation, as well as enabling you to make better decisions in the future.
Victims often need assistance accessing court services. Court advocates, although not actual attorneys, are proficient in helping you in navigating the legal environment, providing support during testimony, understanding the process and ensuring survivor’s rights are protected.
U Care provides compassionate and confidential support. Our counselors work diligently with victims in the aftermath of sexual assault to overcome and limit obstacles one may face while struggling to cope during the recovery process.
You will be counseled, educated, and empowered to act on this violation so that you can move forward with your life.
Training is provided in resume writing, employment, interview skills, and dressing to impress. We offer resources for self-esteem, character building, motivation, even nutrition and cooking. Courses and training which focus on managing personal finances are also available.
Sexual Assault Response Team
If you use violence in your relationship, please consider contacting U Care for assistance. Goal oriented counseling is available to aid in identifying abusive behaviors, teaching alternative strategies to avoid violence, and exploring the impact of negative behaviors on loved ones. Counselors focus on helping those prone to violence by teaching effective communication techniques and in-depth discussions of the components of healthy relationships.
Batterer's Intervention Program
U Care is your resource for completing domestic violence class or batterers intervention program (DV or BIP) when mandated by court or legally required to do so. Classes are conducted in a nonjudgmental atmosphere that is focused on breaking the cycle of violence through education and self-awareness.
This is the only program that we offer that carries a small fee.
Our mission is to prevent sexual assaults in Sampson County by increasing awareness, educating the community and protecting the rights/dignity of victims. We will further promote the compassionate and just treatment of survivors. We foster collaborative relationships between community systems and work toward the elimination of sexual violence.
